- Where should I go for technology help?
The first place to go for technology help is the Technology Requirements page on this website. This page lists the technology requirements in order to run the PowerPoint presentations and video clips. Read through the requirements to ensure that you have the necessary technology.
- Where can I go to get Real Player?
You may download Real Player from its official site at www.real.com
- When I tried to open the presentation and video clips, they would not play.
First, make sure that your computer fits the specifications listed on the Technology Requirements page. In addition, check that Real Player is installed on your computer. If not, there is a direct link to Real Player on the Technology Requirement page. For security reasons, the technology department in many school districts has blocked teacher access to RealPlayer files. Check with your technology department to ensure that there isn’t a filter on allowing RealPlayer files to your computer.
- The activities say to work in pairs or with a small group of people. What if I am the only teacher at my building accessing the Academy?
The intent of this Academy is to be interactive. Having the opportunity to talk and work with other teachers deepens your interest and understanding of the content. In the event that you are the only participant at your site, we encourage you go through the activities on your own. The activities provide hands-on experience and practice with many key pieces of the content and will add to your overall experience with the Online Kansas Reading Academy.
- Who should I contact for information about the Online Kansas Reading Academy?
For general information about this project, please contact Miki Herman at the University of Kansas: mherman@ku.edu.
